One of our 2nd graders (Sarah) from Sioux Valley Elementary in Volga, SD.,saw a large monarch butterfly in her sandbox at home in Brookings. It was a warm day near 80 degrees and a 15 mph breeze. We had several warm and windy days prior to the sighting and that evening, a dramatic cold front was expected. Was this monarch looking for shelter?
