Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/24/2002

Number: 1

Two female Monarchs observed today, approximately 10:25 AM and 11:30 AM, ovipositing on two a. curassavica in my back yard. It appears monarchs will continue to oviposit occasionally. I continue to observe 6 to 12 or more monarchs, sulphurs, gold rim swallowtails (Battus polydamus), and the more common Gulf fritillary, on a daily basis.

As an aside, also observed a gorgeous Giant Swallowtail (Heraclides cresphonthes) nectaring on a blue porterweed next to my left elbow, staying for approximately 10 minutes. Heavenly sight.
