Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/27/2002

Number: 1

Faded, worn female Monarchs are still depositing eggs at the Choctaw Trails site in southwest Jackson as of this afternoon (April 27, 2002). Two females were observed working the fields where Asclepias viridis is now in full bloom and Asclepias verticillata is in floral bud. The activity does seem to be declining, however, as most of the sightings on the plants were of larvae; only one fresh egg was noted on 60 A. viridis plants that I inspected.
