Monarch activity is on the wane at the Choctaw Trails site in southwest Jackson. This afternoon my inspection of Asclepias viridis plants turned up only 1 egg, 1 2nd instar larva and 1 4th instar larva. Over 100 plants were checked; no adults were observed in the fields. We released a second adult monarch (female) reared from an egg collected at Choctaw Trails on the 2nd of April.
