Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/01/2002

Number: 1

Between this past Wednesday (May 1) and today (May 8) I
have had 26 adult monarchs emerge from their chrysalides (I rescued the
caterpillars from friends who had run out of host plants). Also, a
friend in Folsom, LA "birthed" 31 adults during this same time. The
emergence of these adults represent the monarchs' first generation in
Louisiana for 2002. No additional monarch eggs have been seen by anyone
that I know during the past 3 weeks.

First Spring Generation

Ms. Olga Clifton (Abita Springs, LA) was at GRAND ISLE, LA (southern
part of state) last weekend and did not seen even one monarch.
