Yesterday on my morning walk I saw the first bright fresh monarch of my springtime observations. This must have been its first flight ... it seems a little wobbly and unsure...the wings looked a little floppy. The flight only lasted a few seconds and then it came to rest in a hackberry tree. I suppose it was from the eggs of mid March=1st generation 2002.
I also found A. viridis and a milkweed vine species on the lot across the street. I'll start checking them weekly.
