Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/08/2002

Number: 1

We saw our first monarch yesterday during our field day. It was very brightly colored and the wings were in good shape. Our temperature was in the 70's at 12:15 and then a cold front passed through about 20 minutes later. The wind switched to the north and the temperature dropped 20 degrees. We saw the butterfly just after the wind changed. It became very cold last night, but not freezing.
