Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/13/2002

Number: 1

Today while on a field trip at Boyer Chute Refuge, along the Missouri River, near Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, my class spotted a lone monarch butterfly. We were in a field of freshly mowed blue-stem grass. There weren't many flowers or blossoms, but we were near the water. As best we could see its colors looked fairly bright. I would suspect that it was a new generation.
