The milkweed plant is in our garden. Calvin, second grader, went and looked at the stalks today and noticed new shoots and the beginnings of the first leaves. They are still reddish and tender - not yet green. But we are excited as we have been waiting and waiting for the return of the Monarch. We usually see them by now, but this year it has been so cold.
