Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/21/2002

Number: 1

First sighting of adult female monarch this season, resting on bloom of alpine forget-me-not in rock garden located in southwest Denver. Appears to be first generation, as opposed to the Mexican overwintering population. Very strong southerly winds all day today.
Also, as an addendum, the milkweed plants in the area along the S Platte
River through Denver at this time are well developed and approximately 12-18
inches tall.
