Saw the first Monarch of the season today at a family gathering in Hampden, MA. The wings were in perfect shape- appeared to be the new generation. It was so exciting! The monarch I observed flew into a garden belonging to my sister. It landed and was just resting there for about 5 minutes. I was able to get up close while it rested. Then it flew off. There was little noticable wind. We had just had a storm go through the area with a down pour, then the skies cleared. Temps were in high 70's. The milkweed has been up for about a month now.
