Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/2002

Number: 1

This monarch adult was seen by my grandfather on a warm suny morning in my hometown of Rockford. Seen flitting about his garden, he noted how ragged it looked, and that it was flying in a general northern direction and low to the ground. Milkweed is not too tall right now, but is present in W. Michigan, and is the first sighting of a monarch I have heard of in my area at this point in the season.
