Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/30/2002

Number: 1

My second grade class has been eagerly waiting to contact you when the first Monarch appeared on our playground. Several Tiger Swallowtails have raised hopes, but no Monarchs have yet appeared.

We have also been rearing larva. They have pupated and emerged as adults. Three were released today, so now I fear we will not be able to report on first sightings of migrants. Any Monarch we see now could well be one we have 'imported'.

I will keep watching at home and send a report from there when the first Monarch arrives.
