Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/26/2002

Number: 1

I am in Houston, and am very concerned about the lack of butterflies
this year. I received only one "fly by" of eggs in March. I hatched 5
butterflies who were large and healthy. I have milkweed at home and in a
large garden at school where I teach. I have no eggs on any plants. Did we
miss them? Are there less of them? Did the hard freeze largely diminish
their numbers for migration? In years past, my garden would be full of
butterflies, eggs, and hungry caterpillars. I have not had one Monarch
sighting in my garden at home. Please advise. I have 2 email addresses and
would appreciate mail to both.
