I have been waiting for the first monarch. I was driving to a small town 15 miles away from our farm. At one point we must take a gravel turn-off for a few hundred yards. Halfway through the turn-off a beautiful clean fresh monarch went across in front of the car and then alongside for a few moments. I couldn't believe it. 9:56 a.m. Thursday the 30th. I was so excited I started shouting and pounding on the steering wheel. Sometimes it is good to live in a lightly populated area. Only the butterfly saw me going crazy.
