Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/04/2002

Number: 1

Today at 1:20 p.m. as I was telling the children about the new flower bed we will be building during our summer program. The Monarch flew around the pavilion where we were sitting, and I exclaimed as it came by and the children all laughed at my excitement, because they have seen me like this before. This is only the second Monarch I have seen this spring. It was flying in a westerly direction, but there was little nectar to the east or north without flying over some industry, and I think this is why it was flying west. I will move some of the large pots of milkweed to the school yard tomorrow, in case more come around.

It was hot = 90 df, slightly breezy and sunny.
