Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/06/2002

Number: 1

Two days ago two of my third grade students (who raised monarchs last fall with the class) found about 10 eggs. They brought them into class and we have been watching them hatch and grow. The kids will show them to adults that enter the room. They'll say, "Look, this egg is hatching right now."The adult will say, "How do you know that?" The kids say, "I can see it, look." Then everyone gets real close and the adult says, "You're right!" It is so neat to see the interest and knowledge of the kids about these insects. Now they seem like experts and are teaching others about what they know and they are so confident about it. It's another reason I am so glad
we take the time to teach the kids about monarchs.
