Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/20/2002

Number: 1

An adult female Monarch was sighted nectaring on Indian hemp (Apocynum cannabinum) in the Curtis Prairie of the University of Wisconsin Arboretum this morning at about 9:30. She was the first adult Monarch seen in Madison for 6 out of 7 of the naturalists in our group. Normally we would have seen our first one three weeks or more ago. It's been a cold, wet spring and the Milkweed is late.
