If possible please answer the question I have at the end of this account.

We have a nest of robins (Turdus migratorius) about 5.5 feet off of the ground. There were three babies of equal size when I discovered the nest on 7/26/02. Two babies grew rapidly and the nest has grown crowded. On 7/31/02, the small baby was being smothered by the others and crying out a lot whenever it could raise its head. A parent returned to the nest and began jabbing it's head down into the bottom of the nest where the small baby was located. This went on for several minutes. After, the parent flew off, the small baby struggled to raise its head and rest it on the side of the nest. There was no more crying and the baby had closed its beak; basically it looked like it was dying. This morning, 8/1/02, only the two large babies are in the nest. I expect the small baby is dead at the bottom of the nest, because three to four flies were flying about and gathering on the nest.
