Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/26/2002

Number: 1

I drove along Highway 7 (east to west) to Peterborough
today and then up along the Trent River...weather was beautiful - lots of
sun, about 24C...but only saw 1 monarch (however, I bet I saw well over 1000
sulfur butterflies- sometimes in fairly large groups. They were everywhere!
I"ve now got 3 chrysalids and a bunch of munching larvae - haven't found any
more eggs this week. In the morning I'm heading up north to North Bay and I
will be watching and counting monarchs all the way up - I'll check the
milkweed along the way for signs of larvae as well...
