Found a new monarch dining on a sunflower this afternoon. His orange was so deep it seemed like deep velvet. The sunflower must've given up some real flower power, the way the monarch danced and flickered around it! No sign of migrants yet, just monarchs grazing on the meadow asters. Checked all my usual "butterfly trees" along the back gulley, but found them empty.
