Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/12/2002

Number: 1

My students and I were very excited to see a monarch among 3 swallowtails, 2 yellow wings and 3 painted ladies in our school butterfly garden as we returned from lunch around 1:00 pm this afternoon. we have seen many butterflies since we planted our garden last spring but this is the first monarch since we returned this school year! (we got a good close look).
when we went outside again around 3:00 the same number of butterflies were still there sipping and flying. we couldn't believe it and one of my students remarked that the monarch must be lost. i hope not!
