Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/11/2002

Number: 1

I released the last of my monarch butterflies today. Total, I collected 35 caterpillars this summer. Ten from the first generation and 25 from the second. These cats were all found within a short walking distance of my driveway along the highway. In spite of the events last winter in Mexico, I found about a dozen more caterpillars than last year. Over the course of the summer I spotted many monarchs flying around and nectaring on flowers in different areas of Haliburton. Surprising since in most areas south of me there were very few to be seen. Must be the spectacular scenery up here. :)
