We released 55 Monarch Butterflies this week (9/6/02 - 9/13/02). During the week before, we released 15. All of these were raised from eggs collected from our milkweed. There are 10 chrysalides remaining, plus two caterpillars which should pupate in about two days. Hopefully these butterflies will join the migration! Our fourth grade students are tagging some of the butterflies for Monarch Watch. We whisper, "fare thee well, fair creatures!" and hope for the best.
