The "Journey" theme our school is celebrating this year fits in perfectly with this symbolic migration. The Environmental Education Class built a butterfly garden as a 911 Memorial. The monarch was studied to determine how severe weather and habitat destruction can cause problems for migrating species on their "journey" to their southern home, and why we must make sure thier habitat is available when they return in the spring to their "northern" home. The sixth grade teachers are using the ranges of different animals to promote understanding of life requirements. To add to this, our Spanish teacher will help the students translate their messages into Spanish.
