Compton Elementary School has had a butterfly garden for seven years. It was primarlily planted wtih nectar plants and larva host plants for the black swallowtail.

Three years ago we planted milk weed and had monarchs lay eggs, etc. However, our grounds crews obvioulsy really considers them weeds and continues to wack them down. This year we planted more milk weeds in our native flower garden and hope to have some monarchs discover them.
