I have participated in this program for the past several years. We begin the school year by collecting eggs and larva, hatching monarchs recording data as to length of time in chrysallis and F or M, then release the butterfly. We have planted milkweed and flowers to attract butterflies outside our classroom and many students are taking seeds home to plant. This program has been highly successful in past years in helping students understand the challenges the butterflies face. The regular updates have helped us continue the study throughout the year. Since we hatched so many the students feel they have a personal connection to this project. The mystery class clues are excellent real life geography and research lessons for a definite purpose. Thank you for your continued support of this program and helping young people all over become more aware of their responsibilities to the environment.
