Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/17/2002

Number: 1

We are finding the Monarchs feeding off of Chamisa outside of our school cafeteria. Chamisa is a native New Mexican plant. It blooms in the fall... bright yellow. We have observed them for several years and just found your web page. Naturally, we are very excited. One, was quite large and looked very distinctly marked like a Monarch. It's wing span would have been approximately 5 inches. The others were much smaller and not marked as clearly as he was.

Awaiting confirmation of ID.
