On our way back inside after recess, we passed our butterfly garden and found 8 new monarch caterpillars eating away on our milkweed plants. We had released 8 monarchs after watching them hatch 2 weeks ago. We actually were able to watch at the exact moment when 2 of them pulled themselves out of their cocoons. The students thought that it was awesome! Our garden is also full of gulf coast fritillaries and their caterpillars on our passion vines.
