Twenty eight enthusiastic third graders planted their tulips today in our nature center gardens. We followed the planting directions with a few limitations since the planting area had already been set up. Our class divided into four planting groups. Three of the groups planted their bulbs according to planting instructions. We had brainstormed several "What if?" questions. The fourth group planted one bulb ten inches deep, one bulb upside down, one bulb on its side, and two bulbs one on top of the other. Each group had a recorder who drew a map showing their group's planting. It was 43 degrees farenheit today. We anxiously await the arrival of spring.
