Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/28/2002

Number: 1

The Albany Visitors Center staff & 5th grade students from Albany School #20 really got their hands dirty as they planted the city's Official JN Tulip Garden on 10/28/02.The Visitor Center's educator, Carol Ann Margolis, and the 2002 Tulip Queen (Jen Gould) with her court (Rachel Chakmkas and Melissa Merolla) helped students get first hand experience in bulb planting. Two local TV stations filmed the planting and everyone was delighted to make the news doing something GOOD! The Albany area is rich in Dutch history and every year the city holds a tulip festival in May. The city gardener and her staff plant over 100,000 tulip bulbs.....can you imagine doing that?????????? We can't wait to see what date the tulips bloom.
