We finally had our Big Dig Day on Wednesday, Nov. 13. We were rained out the previous week, but this day was glorious! We had 2 planting sessions- one in the morning and one in the afternoon. 18 3rd graders in the a.m. session noted the air temp. was 59 degrees and the soil temp. was 45. In the afternoon, another 18 3rd graders noted planting temperatures for the air to be 68 and the soil was 55. Each student planted their own bulb and drew a garden map in their science journal. Each garden "plot" was numbered to help keep track of the growth in the spring. We planted 4 experiment bulbs: 3 upside down and one sideways. The students were really excited. We ended the day writing a reflection on the first official day of the experiment!
