Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/06/2002

Number: 1

An official Journey North tulip garden was planted on 10/6/02 at the Albany Jewish Community Center by a group of children and their mothers. All the mothers are members of a Jewish women's organization known as Hadassah. This year's theme is "One to Grow On" and it was wonderful to plant bulbs together. Each child also took one tulip bulb home to plant in the ground to compare with the bulbs at the J.C.C. We also decorated clay pots with flower pictures and planted one tulip bulb in each pot. Everyone took their pots home and placed them in their refrigerators (for 12 weeks). We hope the amount of time the bulbs spend in the refrigerators will be enough to force the bulbs to bloom in our houses before our Journey North bulbs flower outside in Albany
