Our second grade class planted 100 Red Emperor tulips on December 17. We have a 7' x 7' raised planting bed that can be seen from the hallway outside our media center. The soil is enriched with 20 gallons of aged chicken manure. On top of the tulip bulbs we planted blue and white pansies. Mrs. Lee Rogers, a class parent, purchased the plants and directed the planting activity. The children first had to remove the lettuce, cabbage and broccoli that was left over from the fall garden. The children worked in small groups with Mrs. Rogers to plant our winter garden. Many thanks to Lee Rogers.
