Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/18/2003

Number: 1

We have been seeing large numbers of American Robins along the Texas mid coast for about three weeks. The Christmas Bird Counts (CBC) across Texas this year included larger than usual numbers of Robins. This morning there were Robins in our neighborhood and for the first time all were moving northwestward. The past two weeks several birders reported to the TexBird List upwards to 300 Robins (plus large numbers of Cedar Waxwings) in back yards from the coast to west Texas. It has been suggested by experienced birders that the drought in the midwest over to the northeast and southeast drove more Robins southwestward to central Texas this winter.
