Bald Eagle

Date: 01/22/2003

Number: 1

We were at Goat Island in Niagara Falls, New York, on 1/22/03 and saw an eaglet on an ice block. The eaglet took off and went to the river and caught a fish. It went back to the ice block and ate the fish. Then it took off and crossed the river and landed in a tree. We drove to where it landed and there were a bunch of crows in the tree with the eaglet, and the crows were screaching their heads off. They wanted the eaglet to leave. We got out of the car and were right under the eaglet. It sat there for a few minutes and then took off. It was beautiful. And really big. I would guess it was maybe 4 years old. I have never seen an eagle in the wild so close and it was really exciting.
