I live on a slightly developed finger cove off of Lake Livingston,Texas. My house is on the lake shore in the back of the cove. On 01/17/03 my wife and I observed a Mature Bald Eagle kill a semi-domestic medium sized white duck in our back yard (Lake Shore.) The sighting began about 4:00 p.m. We had obsereved the duck laying low in the grass an hour or so earlyier sunning. The first thing I saw was the Eagle with the Ducks neck in his talons about 1 to 2 feet of the sandy bank. He hopped the duck into about 6 inches of water and held his head under the water for about 1 minute. He then hopped the duck back out of the water to the shore and duck was still alive. The Eagle repeated this process three times until the duck seemed to be dead. At this point the Eagle started plucking away at the feathers and the flesh of the Duck.
