Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/07/2003

Number: 1

While walking on one of the trails at the Lemoine Point Conservation Area near the Kingston Airport today, I saw a flock of 14 robins flitting actively among the trees and shrubs. They were healthy looking, well fluffed out, and many were foraging on what appeared to be buckthorn berries. The birds were curious and surprisingly tame. Two individuals flew down to the path right in front of me. Two males in the tree tops were singing a weak "cheerily, cheerily" song. The birds are overwintering here and not migrating.

The weather was sunny, winds were light and the air temperature was about -5 deg C at the time of observation.
