I've just recently become aware of a group of eagles that nests along the Thornapple River at its convergence with the Grand River near Ada, MI. In the past 2 weeks, traveling to the nearby town of Lowell; I've seen a pair flying out from beneath a highway bridge as they cruise the open waterway of the Thornapple.
In talking to a Lowell resident, I've discovered that as many as 10 pairs live along a stretch of the Thornapple year round.
Last Saturday, crossing the bridge in blustery winter weather, I was rewarded with the sight of one of these beautiful birds regally perched where it could watch the moving water below.
