Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/14/2003

Number: 1

11:30 a.m. huge flocks of robins were frantically calling, feeding, flying from lawns to tree to tree in an area 1/2 mile north of U.S. Highway 50 and Grove Road. By 12:30, they had moved north a mile, exhibiting the same behavior. They were very noisy, and we were reminded of "The Birds", however, the robins were not vicious.

The habitat in the area is pine scrub. We didn't notice any preference for a certain type of tree. Their coloring blended in with the pine needles when they were on the ground. You wouldn't realize they were there, until they all took off again.
