Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/20/2003

Number: 1

We live in Cockeysville, MD, near the Lochraven watershed. A large group, at least 30-50 arrived in our back yard yesterday (2/20/03) in the late afternoon. They seemed to be very thirsty and hungry, as they were drinking water from all snow melting sources. The rain spouts, and small puddles in the drive. Snow is about 2.5 feet deep in my back yard where we have two bird feeders. The robins seemed so desperate that a few tried the feeder seeds. Mostly they seemed to nip at the buds in a tree and what fell on the snow, those on the ground ate. Most had red breast. Hope this helps your project.
