The bald eagles must have already left the overwintering area at Lake Buchanan, near Burnet, in Central Texas. My family and I celebrated my 60th birthday with a trip on the Vanishing Texas River Cruise to see the eagles but none were sighted. I have been on the lake in mid February in past years and have seen 15+ immatures and adults. We were too late this year!
