Saw a 'wave' of robins feeding on the ground in wheat stubble. There were also bluebirds with them. There were perhaps eight robins --- not as many as I've seen in the overwintering groups. They were stabbing at the soil, and we had had a two day warm spell with daytime temps in the 40sF. So the top soil was melted and wet, though I did not personally see any insect or worm activity. (Maybe the robins did!).
