Numerous songbirds are singing. Those that overwinter, like the cardinal and titmouse, have switched from their winter peeps to long songs, delivered from high branches. I also note several sparrow or finch species who are singing, but my identification skills are not good enough to tell who is who.
Finally, I heard the first male mourning dove. They don't say anything in the winter. I couldn't see the hen, but I heard and saw the male cooing away in the mulberry tree.
