All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/02/2003

Number: 1

Altus and I noticed several warblers in the yard over the weekend (we weren't tough enough to get out and ID them) and we have noticed more hawks as we drive back and forth from Victoria ... more than the usual Red-tailed and White-tailed ... others in the state are reporting more hawks.

We have had over two weeks of cold, wet weather with a north wind
blowing almost all the time along the Texas coast ... 15 to 20 degrees below the normal highs for the days ... 50 instead of 70, even 30's instead of 65 last week! Upper level lows are moving across the state from the west to the southeast every twelve to twenty-four hours bringing a cold north wind and drizzle and rain. We should have had that much south wind with the temperatures in the low to mid seventies by this time of the year.
