Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/16/2003

Number: 1

I've had my feeder up since March 3rd. Been busy may have missed it before today. I usually hear them before I see them but not this time. Winter has held on this year. Lots of rain and very cool nights. This Sunday morning I made a point to see a hummer if there is one and got a glimps as it flew away. Ps..I had lots of sick birds at my feeders this year..redbirds mostly but cowbirds, goldfinch, and carolina chickadees all very sick to their death. I'm thinking maybe the sunflower seeds were tainted with something....are they spraying them?...I changed the feeding areas all winter to see if it was that...I have a few of the dead in my freezer to send off...I'll let you know what they find out.
