Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/15/2003

Number: 1

Our walk today was filled with the song of the Redwinged Black Birds. What I have aways considered a true sign of spring. They were on everytree top and close to our pond. This winter has been very cold and snowy (we are located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario) snow has fallen almost everyday since November. So seeing and hearing these birds was wonderful. Temperature was to reach 50 F. I hope our friends are correct and that winter is near its end.
