Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

About six male red wing blackbirds were vocalizing and singing their spring territorial songs on the edge of a frozen marsh this morning near Kingston, Ontario. The snow is still about 30 cm deep and the ice on the embayment of Lake Ontario is reportedly at 60 cm thick. It was partly sunny and the temperature at 4 deg C at the time of observation.
