Greetings Journey North....March 19, 2003...the sap is running in Madoc Ontario!! - I put my taps in on Saturday March 15 and we had sap immediately - the temperature was +8 to +12. This year we had to wear snowshoes in the bush, and we tapped high on the trees because since the end of January we have had 100 cm of snow! However, with the warmth of the sun over the past 5 days, over half of the snow has melted away. I boiled down the first 2 barrels of sap and I will be finishing it off tonight.....mmmmm....
