KILLDEER - As Killdeers do not over-winter in Ottawa (nor do ANY shorebirds, for that matter!), they are always a "sign of spring" here...The 1st of this year were seen on 23 March 2003 near the town of Carp, just west of Ottawa, by myself & m. obs....The following day March 24, several were reported in other locations in Ottawa (observers included Bev McBride, Bob Bracken & myself)
